Family Portraits in Balboa Park, San Diego

On a recent trip to visit my brother and his wonderful girlfiend in San Diego, we took the kids to Balboa Park. The light, the landscape and the love made for a great day. I was also inspired to see the Musuem of Photographic Arts located smack dab in the middle of the park. An added bonus: the unique and surreal tree formations found throughout the park were a source of inspiration for Dr. Suess.

Courtney & Stefan's LA wedding: Palos Verdes and Bel Air

Courtney & Stefan married on November 6th, 2010 on the beautiful cliffs of Palos Verdes followed by an intimate reception at The Bel Air Country Club. Courtney grew up in Los Angeles and Stefan is from the beautiful Black Forrest, Germany. The ceremony took place at 11.30 am and I was a bit worried the high noon sun would be too harsh, but there was a softness to to the light and I enjoyed the challenge (nothing a few polarizing filters can't fix). The black & white work was shot on Tri-x film with my Leica M6. The color work was shot digitally with a variety of prime lenses. Courtney & Stefan were a lot of fun to work with and always, I'm very thankful for that. Nice people make a day filled with hard work that much easier. See below for a list of talented local vendors.

Location: Bel Air Country Club
Flowers: Subrosa Floral Design
Music: Aragorn & Olivia
Cupcakes: Yummy Cupcakes
Wedding Coordinator and Production Director: Jessica Cronin (maid of honor as well!)

Our Journey Together V.1

As a photographer, I often feel I'm not making enough work of my two amazing children. Certain days I just want to be in the moment, other days I want our time together to be about them, not my work.

Last Wednesday we walked over to the beach and I was able to be make work from the heart and also be a child (as evidenced by the sand I'm still cleaning off my gear when they tackled me from behind!). I don't yell, I don't get frustrated when they move too quick. The work isn't scripted, just moments captured together. I love these two more than words can describe and today, that restless feeling of not making enough work isn't bothering me.

Anne & Marc, October 8th 2010

q

Anne & Marc had an intimate, outdoor ceremony in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, on a beautiful fall day. It was a homecoming of sorts and a great opportunity to fill up with love and energy from the place I call home. Anne and Marc were wonderful to work with and as always, it makes the experience. In addition to running The Abbaye, a restaurant with many great Belgian beers on tap, Marc plays percussion in Black Landlord. Check out the music here.
